Free Credit Reports for a Year

 In Common Questions

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, free credit reports are now available through April 2021, from all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Here’s how to get yours.

There is only one site that has been directed by the US government to provide the free reports.  Make sure you go to the correct site to get your reports.  Here it is:

annualcreditreport.com

You will be able to get your reports for free, but if you want your credit scores also, you will have to pay.  However, it is probably a waste of your time and money to pay for scores because the scoring models used for reports that are provided directly to consumers are NOT the same scoring models used by mortgage lenders.  Save your money instead of purchasing a useless credit score.

It is still a good idea to check your reports, though.  There are lots of fraudsters out there, and checking your credit report is the only way to know whether your credit has been compromised.
